Making the Leap

Making the Leap

Sixty-nine years ago, in 1942, National Secretaries Association was formed. Since then, our association innovated the profession by creating Administrative Professional‘s Day, developed professional certification and introduced the first online community for administrative professionals. What if the idea that an organization for secretaries was not realized because of the lack of belief? What if we never expanded to become international? What if we never changed the name of the association to reflect the job titles as they changed? From NSA, to PSI, and now IAAP, what a remarkable leap of vision from the idea of an association for secretaries to the IAAP of today, and the dream of what it can be in the future.

Making the Leap to Remarkable, encapsulates the vision that our association has been working towards. It serves as a marker of where we are within our association culture change.

It is said that, it‘s the courage and confidence to begin. It‘s the passion and persistence to continue. It‘s the talent and tenacity to finish. It‘s the roads you choose, the meetings you make, the mountains you move and the example you set. It is all these things, and more, that comprise success. Join me in Making the Leap to Remarkable this coming year. I am asking that each of you embody a remarkable ―’can do’ attitude as we plant the flag that announces to the world that we are IAAP, and we are Making the Leap to Remarkable.

Tamra Goodall
2011-2012 IAAP International President
